Popular beachbreak with a variety of options. Split peaks in the middle of the beach that can get hollow; Bluerock - a long righthand boulder point at the north end and a rivermouth sandbar at the south.
Surf shop, parking and facilities in town.

Local Knowledge
There are no surf shops/surf schools where you can rent the boards, due to the reason that it's a "no swimming" beach. However, you can get a board together with instructor at a higher price in any school.

****** To reviewer edit as you wish. ****** About the Beach: There is no swimming permitted on this beach as it can have powerful rips in big swells. There is no problem with surfing, but please make sure you identify the location and direction of the rips prior to entering the water. Surf School: There are three surf schools right on the promenade of the beach called: Perfect Day Surf School http://www.perfectdaysurfing.com/ Strandhill Surf School http://www.strandhillsurfschool.com/ Strandhill Lodge and Surf School www.strandhillaccommodation.com For Food and Drink: Bella Vista and The Strand Bar are right on the beach. There are other bars further up the village about 1km walk. This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
