A luxury for surfers in the Indonesian mazeLocated in Southeast Asia, in the archipelago of Sunda (Indonesia), Sumbawa is an island about 250 km long by 80 wide and an unknown for many surfers, more accustomed to approaching waves of the Bukit peninsula, in Bali, in the Mentawai archipelago or in Java, where the legendary wave of G-Land.
In Indonesia, with the Indian Ocean at his feet, there are thousands of surf surfeables and half a dozen of the best are in Sumbawa. But the communication channels are not simple in this country and are sometimes needed one or two-day journey to reach the place they want. The waves break mostly in places outside the tours, although some ten years ago from small lodgings and restaurants han ido emerging where waves break. The coast, unlike other parts of Indonesia, lacks dense forests and recalls a more equatorial climate with low forest and low. Malaria is a problem, and also snakes. The lagoon is life, because that is a coral reef lagoon, a huge swimming pool open to the ocean full of life. And the outer reef, the fossilized coral barrier that climbs from the depths, is the spot where the luminous object of desire of surfers, the wave, just its route.
