Surfrider Foundation's ten Florida chapters recently saw success in the final days of the 2007 Florida Legislative Session. Your Florida chapters are celebrating the unanimous passage of sweeping beach management legislation by both the Florida House (HB7175) and Senate (SB1472)!
The bill protects your right to access your beach. Florida now joins the ranks of Texas and Oregon with a sufficient beach access protection policy.
The bill also protects you, sea turtles, as well as Floridas fragile beach and dune system, from a harmful form of coastal armoring. Your Florida chapters fought for additional permitting requirements for geotextile tubes and now there is a very cautious blueprint for their selective use.
In our 23-year history, Surfrider Foundation won hundreds of victories, just like this victory for Florida, on beaches all over the globe. This important victory would not be possible without the support of our members!
Were creating a global movement of care for our coasts - join us and become a member of the Surfrider Foundation today!
Every time Surfrider Foundation wins, your beach wins. By winning coastal battles in Florida we ensure that future generations will enjoy the beach that you frequent and surf the waves you surf.
I know that you love being at the beach. You surf. You kayak. You fish. You build sandcastles and explore tide-pools. Thats why it is so important that you become a member today and protect what means so much to you- your beach.
Why should I join the Surfrider Foundation today?
