LAST week it all went a bit funny down in the South Pacific as an unseasonally early super-swell with a period loitering around 20 seconds rocked Tahiti.

Forecast to arrive on the morning of Wednesday, March 17th, it initially came in at a paddleable size before truly kicking off mid-morning.

Here Danny Fuller grabs what would have been on any other day, at any other break, one of the waves of the day.

Total respect. I thought I'd kicked some waves in my time. Now I realise I've been surfing on a tennis court for 25 years. P6 must be 35ft+, awsome!!!.

"where (I) should have been Wednesday, March 17"? ... oh. surely you mean: to watch. !

By the beard of Zeus! That is the best Teahupoo shot I have seen since Malik Joyeux's sickeningly large wave, way back when. Some people just have enormous kahoonas, don't they??? This mus be the biggest wave ridden there, no? Please prove me otherwise.

I just wanna say fair f**ks to the two Kiwis lads (Sam Hawke from Dunedin and Doug Young) who ventured over and got some massive waves...well done lads!

Lots of respect to anyone who is self-confident and skilled enough to "go for it" in Big Teahupoo; truly a very dangerous wave.

I don't care if the invitation really is in the mail, I'm not going. There isn't enough money in the world to induce me to ride something like page 6.

pic 6 is awesome, Teahupoo with a capital POO
JoshHumbert619 days ago Unrated Rate Positive Rate Negative
Toot, there's no "Poo" in Teahupo'o although most of the world doesn't seem to know that. Only Tahitians, Hawaiians and the people at Transworld Surf get it. Phonetically, the closest way to explain it is "cho-po", not cho-poo. :)
