Learn to surf in Cromer
The Glide Surf School is based in Cromer, Norfolk, UK and has been running since 2007. The surf school runs 7 days of the week, from April to the end of October with lessons taking place at the east side of the pier. Surf equipment hire is available all year.
Individual and group lessons are available, with all the equipment provided. We tailor our surf instruction to your ability so whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced surfer you will be able to improve in all our lessons. During a beginner lesson you will cover the basics of surfing, paddling the board, catching the waves, standing up on the board, wave selection, turning techniques, basic surf etiquette, ocean awareness, surf safety and any future advice to help you with your life as a surfer. Flat water training is also avilable with the use of 'Indo balance boards'.
Our priority is getting you up riding the waves, having fun as quickly and safely as possible. One to one coaching is also available to help you progess from riding just the white water and fine tune your surfing on the open face of the wave. This can include reading the waves, paddling, positioning and timing when catching the wave and any other advice to help you progress and improve.
We also offer lessons to larger community groups like schools activity days/weeks, youth groups, team building events for business.
Although all our surf lessons are inclusive of equipment, if you have had a few surfing lessons and are feeling confident, then why not hire a surfboard and wetsuit and practise what you have learnt? Hire is on full day basis between the hours of 10:00-18:00. We hire out a wide range of surfboards and wetsuits to save you the expense of having to buy your own, all we ask is that you look after the kit!
The boards available are 7’ and 8’ soft boards for those who are still learning the basics. For those who are a little more experienced 6’-8’ fish and mini-mal‘ shaped hardboards are available. We have a full range of summer (3/2mm) and winter (5/3mm) wetsuits enabling you to stay nice and warm during the different UK seasons. There is an extensive range of sizes catering for the smallest 8 year old to the largest of adults, allowing you to get in and enjoy the water whatever your size.
Paddle Boards, the Newest Surfing Trend
Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world. Originating in Polynesia, it involves standing on a super wide, super long board and propelling yourself through the water using a long one bladed paddle. The basics of balancing and positioning are straightforward to learn, and once you've mastered them, the paddle makes it as easy to drop down into a wave as it is to slip away and explore the beautiful north Norfolk coastline.
It is a great activity to promote balance and core strength. It is a fantastic all around workout for your body and a brilliant activity for when there is no or little surf. Available for indivuduals and groups of up to eight people. A standard paddle boarding lesson lasts for two hours and costs £27 a person. No experience necessary and ALL equipment provided. We also offer lessons to larger community groups like schools activity days/weeks, youth groups, team building events for business.
