Topsail Island encompasses Topsail Beach, Surf City and Del Mar Beach to the north. This long stretch of shifting beachbreaks is always changing, so flexibility and lots of surf checks are required. Somewhere is always working at a particular tide, subject to swell direction. Adjacent to the piers is usually best, so check the Topsail Beach Pier (S), The One Eyed Pier (central) and Atlantic Pier (N).
Laid-back place that will only get crowded in the peak holiday season. Average consistency, but nice and clean on this residential island.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
