HURRICANE Irene makes a few waves as the Carolinas prepare to batten down the hatches.
TS Bret is in play right now and forecast to take a northerly track spinning back out into the Atlantic and weakening further. Right now the Florida buoys are showing a lumpy wind swell in the 8ft range but significantly more than the normal forecast expected, as always check out out Hurricane specific forecasts for detailed forecast heights from Hurricane swells, which the normal model can under call.

The forecast is changeable and the key factor is for how long the storm runs up the coast before turning east. Earlier predictions were for waves in the 6ft@11seconds range for the Outer Banks, but the most recent track cools these numbers considerably as the storm looks to turn quicker.
