oh my god how can u people be so cruel you shouldnt be saying stuff like oh id love to go surfing there.
u people dont under stand that people have died and ur just talking about how good the surf is there.
u should think before u say stuff like that.
any way its a big tragedy that the earthquake happened.
my thoughts go out to all the people that have died.
My bro and I used the chart from this page to show our folks that my wee bro in the Philippines was safe. Appreciate the constructive and useful data MSW. So saddened for the poor people and communities engulfed in horror of it all.
Its now been 24+ hrs since the quake so almost all areas outside Japan are safe and tsunami warnings have been downgraded. But there have been 150+ aftershocks so keep up to date. Note the big quake yesterday was preceded by a 7.2 quake Wed 9 Mar in basically the same spot. This could mean another big aftershock, though doubtful, might come and create another tsunami. Let's hope not. From all reports NE Japan's pacific coast around Sendai has been devastated. Also 2 nuclear powerplants are in trouble. Thoughts with everyone in Japan.
To make you feel a little more relaxed, here in Costa reports have not been serious at all, it was suppossed to hit at 4 or 5pm, which makes Panama almost the same. The swell has increased very little, almost imperceptible. Saludos.
Guys can we show some respect, alot of people have already died in this quake. I think the surf banter can proberly wait. To wedge 69 your a prick and you should really think about what comments you post on line.
A different map and timings taken from the BBC website. Thoughts and best wishes to all that have been affected.

Looking at this graph it looks like southern Chile is going to get hit pretty hard. Why is it focused down there and not in California and other areas of Central and South America?
It is crazy how fast it goes!
here is a youtube link as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQTJy5mWejA
I hope everyone is ok, but I doubt it!
RIP to everyone we have lost in this today!
This is very frightening stuff, i just hope early warning sytems managed to save many lives and my thoughts go to the people who have been caught in this disaster.
