WE showed a young pro around our warehouse the other day, he looked at at lot of boards, 'too heavy', 'boring', 'need more colour'. He wanted something fun. He walked out with a Lost under his arm and paid for it.

Matt Biolos is serious about not taking things seriously. He's that unconventional character you know, have always kind of admired and have made a decent life from being obtuse. His first gig as a shaper was at the Herbie Fletcher Surf Shop, during which time he shaped his first board the "Ratz Ass". Next came the "Mayhem" and the beginnings of Lost as a brand. As he was over in Europe we thought it'd be nice to take the opportunity to delve a bit under the skin of the man behind Lost.

We heard the brand …Lost originated from your old competition name, ‘Team Lost.’ You might not have cared, but did you and your mates ever win?

You can't win unless you enter the game. Says Matt. We were under the bleacher seats during the games, smoking joints, drinking and playing with the bad girls.

wow, guess he just did not want to do the interview. This was one step away from the monosyllable answers throughout.. guess his boards do the talking.

Left hand pointbreak only board? A little like Derek Hynd's board that he made specifically for J-Bay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECqlbimpaUI

Gotta love Mayhem boards, I'm 6'3, 80kg and have been riding a 5'10 Lost Round Nose Fish for the last few years (not the strongest board, and pretty thrashed now). My favorite board by far, fast as fuck and like a skate board on the water. PS. What the hell is up with the tail on Gorkins board (page 6)???

asymetrical tail: for example to make back side turns easier at higher speeds. sometimes you might even see on a quad say a keel on one side and two fins on the other side.
