surfboards made by real surfers!
Ben Skinner, AKA 'Skindog' has been surfing since the age of 3. His parents Steve and Sarah proud owners of 'Skinners Brewery' in Cornwall, an award winning Real Ale company, raised Ben and his three sisters in Jersey. Steve had been a surfer himself since the age of 15 and has also been president of the Jersey Surfboard Club and is always putting back into the sport.
Ben started competing at the age of 8 and took a fond view of the idea of being a Pro Surfer. At the age of 11 The Skinner Family moved to Cornwall where Ben began competing in national events and by 13 was 2x under 14's British Shortboard Champion. He picked up sponsorship from Quiksilver when he was 12 and began training with some of the worlds elite surfers on Camps around the world doing competitions on the way.
Here we aim to make the best surfboards available! Now based at the longest running, and most up to date factory in Europe, OceanMagic. Check gallery for pictures!
The team consists of obviously Ben Skinner, who designs! the boards and rides them to the extreme, which in return makes the product for this reason, a cut above the rest! Jason Gray who has had 20 years in the trade, takes care of the production/quality control! Chris Harris who takes care of the shaping and art work.
At Skindog surfboards we only produce the highest quality surfboards, but making decisions on some of the more unique aspects of your board may be confusing - but don't worry the factory team is always there to try and help.
Jason has been laminating surfboards since he was fifteen, opting out of school early he started his career with Nigel Woodcock of Wavekraft surfboards, where Tad Ciastula of Vitamin Sea surfboards also worked. He served a two year apprenticeship in all aspects of surfboard construction, soon he found his niche, which was to be laminating.
