Almost a mile north of Sunset is Velzyland, perhaps the most localised and intensely crowded spot on the strip. Outer reefs like Phantoms filter the swell size before it reforms and lurches onto a sharp lava reef, spinning fast right bowls and shreddable walls before hitting a positively square inside barrel section. Less competitive, shorter lefts can be had, but there's no paddle channel to get back out. Mid tide, light SE and small to medium NW swell best. Experts or pros only and intermediates will be better off at Freddyland across the channel

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
