Team News Daniel Kereopa King of New Zealand at Last Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 February, 2007 : - - Kiwi legend Daniel Kereopa ended 18 years of cursed New Zealand National titles campaigns to win not just his first open championship but also the senior and longboard divisions of the same event! Sounding more relieved than stoked DK responded to the win in the Raglan Chronicle by stating: “I’m just glad to get rid of that Open title haunt, it’s a done deal. Now that the monkey’s off my back I can see what other areas of my career need a push.” Doing just that the powerful natural footer then proceeded to destroy his opposition one week later in the final of the Billabong Pro at Whangamatta. That win now extends his lead on the domestic Corona Crown Surfing Series and after three of six events he is all but guaranteed a berth in the all important Corona Super 16 to be held in mid March. “It’s been a sensational week,” said an emotional Kereopa. “I couldn’t have written it any better, it’s just awesome.” Well done from everyone at Volcom mate. www.volcom.com
