Most waveriders from the Adelaide area can?t resist the call of the desert, but rarely go further than the Eyre Peninsula. Those that make the journey as far as Penong (?The Rock Hole?), head another 21k's (13mi) south down a white lime dirt road, to Point Sinclair. The most southern spot is an outside break called Witzig's, named after Paul Witzig, the filmaker/journo who was one of the first to scope out this area. It is a powerful left with dredging takeoffs and can peel off for long distances when lined up on a moderate S-SW swell. Highly exposed.
Don't even think about it unless you are confident in your abilities. Very shallow and lots of water moving.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
