Very consistent, good quality, beachbreak. Doesn?t need much swell to work, although W swells struggle to get in here. A long beach with several peaks, mostly performance orientated. Highly competitive in the water with a very high level of surfing.
Almost always crowded, particularly on the main peaks. Zarautz is one of the most popular surfing beaches in Spain. Also quite popular with beachgoers in the summer. Parking difficult during the summer and at weekends. Good facilities including lifeguard, showers, toilets and surfing school. Surf shops in nearby town centre. Mildly polluted, mainly from residential and stormwater runoff.

This graph shows the percentage of days that had a ridable wind swell (7 seconds period or more) or groundswell (10 seconds period or more) of over 3ft. It also shows the dominant wind direction. Not all of these days will neccessarily give great surf, and very short lived wind swells or longer period secondary swells may produce surf not recorded, but it gives a clear idea of the seasonal trend and a rough guide to the chances of scoring something ridable.
