PHP Developer

Our team has created the most successful global surf forecasting service with more than 1.5 million people across the world depending on our surf forecast every month. We're looking for more talent to help develop this growth.

We are looking for a talented PHP Developer to join our small development team based in Kingsbridge, South Devon. You will play a key role in building critical features of our surf forecasting application that will reach hundreds of thousands of surfers around the world.

Data is at the core of our product and we strive to write scalable, bullet-proof software. At the heart of Magicseaweed is a huge large volume of ocean and atmospheric data that needs to be crunched and delivered to the user at warp speed.

Main Responsibilities

  • Build and develop the underlying data layer that powers the most awesome ocean and weather forecasting products in the world.
  • Write efficient, lean and beautifully abstracted PHP code.
  • Create bullet-proof unit- and integration tests.
  • Deploy code to testing and production environments.
  • Contribute to software architecture discussions.
  • Conduct code reviews -- feedback goes both ways.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of writing beautiful PHP code.
  • Expert knowledge of relational DB’s (MySQL).
  • Knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript and the Linux server environment.
  • Coding is one of your hobbies - it’s not just a job.
  • Solid maths, written and spoken English.
  • Related degree or commercial experience.
