Oporto Surf Camp is located in a traditional fishing village called Esmoriz, surrounded by the wild and well-preserved beaches of Maceda Natural Park.
The cultural city Oporto lies only 30 km north of the camp. And is easy to reach with the train. The camp is a multicultural place, where people from all over the world can enjoy the surf, become friends and exchange experiences in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere. Esmoriz is known as the best surf spot triangle of the North of Portugal, with a peaceful and friendly crowd, where Portuguese traditions are still alive, lots of party, and it's a place where you can enjoy the pure feeling of surf.
Oporto Surf School is for young and adult people who want to learn or develop their surfing techniques as a sport, culture and life-style. All instructors have the appropriate credentials (by the Portuguese Surfing Federation) and a wide knowledge and experience in surfing on educational and competition level. With over 20 years experience in surfing, Oporto Surf school instructors can advise/teach according to each students' needs from beginners to advanced surfers.
The North of Portugal has a consistent swell all year around. Along a coastline of 15km you can find already more than 20 beach breaks with waves for all surf levels. The most famous and consistent wave is Espinho, host of several surf events, it's known for its long barrelling right hander. For intermediates surfers the best wave is Cagalhotos, a long and easy right, perfect for you to develop your surf manoeuvres. In front of the camp there is a fast and fun left-hander. South of the camp you can find the multiple peaks of the natural beaches inserted on Maceda Natural Park where surf becomes completely in touch with nature in its purest form. For beginners the beach breaks are ideal to learn to surf and the north has many uncrowded beaches so you can really focus on the surf.
The surf house is only a 3 minute walk from the beach. It has two shared bedrooms (for 4 people) and two private bedrooms (for 2 people). There is a fully equipped kitchen and a cosy living room with TV, DVD, Internet and Playstation in the house in the back of garden. Like this the guesthouse is for sleeping or resting. Outside is a beautiful garden with a bbq and a lot of places/hammocks to relax in the sun or shade.
In the surf camp surroundings you can find restaurants with typical Portuguese gastronomy (lots of fresh sea food), bakeries, traditional groceries and shops with typical products from the region. You can also find beach bars and discos and a lot of unspoiled and uncrowded beaches. There are always activities going on, there's a wicked skate park in the middle of the forest (10 minutes from teh camp). Yoga classes twice a week, a golf course nearby and cultural visits.
