About Us
Lusty Glaze is a group of businesses owned and operated by Newquay couple Tracey and Jeremy Griffiths, who realised their dream of owning Lusty Glaze Beach in 1999. After years of continuous development and diversification, Lusty Glaze has gone from being a run down bucket and spade destination to a first-class leisure and education complex employing hundreds of people.
With a background in outdoor pursuits, water safety, paramedic care and rural development, the pair set about establishing quality facilities at the beach for adventure, training and education. They joined forces with local surfers, lifeguards, adventure sports fans, instructors and paramedics to create a range of businesses run in complete harmony with the Cornish coast.
From its early beginnings as the National Beach Lifeguard Training Centre, the business now comprises The Adventure Centre, The Training Centre, The Education Centre, Lusty Glaze Accommodation and Lusty Glaze Restaurant. Many of the companies activities and courses are now run in partnership with Cornwall College - the counties largest provider of higher and further education courses.
The Adventure Centre is operated by a team of instructors and extreme sports enthusiasts who provide guests with fun, safe and exciting adventures to remember. All instructors are professionally qualified and the centre is a licensed member of the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), which ensures strict adherence to safety procedures and standards of good practice in the delivery of adventure activities.
We provide the ultimate surf school experience! Located in the European surf capital of Newquay, Lusty Glaze Beach is the perfect place to learn to surf or brush up on your surfing skills. As a privately owned surfing beach, we can offer exclusive access to some of the best surfing waves in Cornwall for beginners and improvers. There is nowhere better to raise your surf awareness, brush up on surf skills or experience wave-riding for the first time. We only use professional surf school instructors to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable surfing lesson. Choose from the following packages for a surf experience with a difference:

JUNIOR SURFINGWhether just starting out or already experienced, our surf sessions help to build technique, confidence and awareness for children aged between 7 and 16 years old. Lusty Glaze is a safe, secluded beach patrolled throughout the season by professional lifeguards. Price includes board and wetsuit hire.

BODYBOARDINGLearn to bodyboard in safety at Lusty Glaze Beach. Our instructors will take you though the basics of sea safety, swimming with flippers, how to catch a wave and essential boadyboarding manoeuvres. Price includes board and wetsuit hire.

SURF & DE-STRESSThe ultimate in activity luxury, this full day package combines a group surfing lesson with a deep, relaxing massage in one of our beautiful beachside cabanas, overlooking the ocean. This is perfect for soothing the aches and pains after an active surf session at Lusty Glaze.

SURF & SPAA morning surf lesson is followed by a visit to a luxury spa in Newquay. This is a great way to relax and unwind. You will will have use of a spa and steam room, with a glass of bubbly thrown in. Bath robes and towels are included.

THE SURF EXPERIENCESurfing can be mixed with a zip wire ride or another one of our cliff activities for a multi-activity adventure package. This is ideal for stag and hen parties, and other organised groups who want more than just a surf lesson and an action packed surf experience to remember.

For the ultimate adrenalin high… go coasteering. This thrilling activity combines climbing, scrambling, sea swimming and cliff jumping, taking you to otherwise inaccessible parts of the Cornish coast. Routes traverse around the foot of high cliffs and through sea caves, allowing you to get up close and personal with all kinds of marine life. COASTEER HALF DAYThis half-day coasteering adventure involves a thrilling swim, climb and jump around the rugged coastal terrain of Newquay Bay. Visit rarely explored nooks and crannies, where you can ride the rise and fall of the swell and test your nerves on a series of high jumps, giving you a coasteering experience to remember.

ECO-COASTEERINGFor this adventure we tone down the adrenalin, and turn on the education as we take you on an eco-coasteering exploration of the wildlife and geology of the Cornish coast. See spectacular cliffs and sea caves, and encounter local wildlife, including sea birds and seals, and perhaps even dolphins and basking sharks.
