London based photographer Kate Czuczman and ladies surf coach Natalie Fox have joined forces to create an independent event, bringing together girls of all ages and abilities to help support the future of the UK’s girls surfing scene. The theme for the day is recycling, with the venue taking on a vintage fete style, and encouraging people to think about green issues whilst having a tremendous amount of fun.
Anyone and everyone is welcome along to the day which is being held at the Carnmarth Hotel’s magnificent marquee, overlooking Fistral beach, in Newquay, Cornwall from 11am - it’s a £2 entrance fee, or £1 with a flyer, for which you get your very own limited edition “Chicks with Sticks” badge!
Activities during the day include the retro revival fete with a cake baking competition, surfing bring and buy sale, raffle, makeover corner, and surf fitness & pilates lessons. There are discounted surf lessons for girls available next door at the ESF & Ripcurl surf school plus a girlie freesurf and foamie competition depending on conditions. 5pm sees the start of the Oakley Surf Sistas film festival with the The Surf Screen™ showcasing an exciting film premier accompanied by a pimms BBQ! The evening then kicks off with lashings of goodies to give away (holidays, equipment and clothes!), top entertainment and the SurfGirl magazine Surfer Boy auction where ladies can bid for a date with local and pro surfers! The after party is at the infamous Koola Bar with all Chicks with Sticks badge wearers receiving free entry before 11pm.
All proceeds will be split between the Chicks with Sticks charities - local based women’s cancer support & awareness group PANTS; Soul Surfers Foundation that raises money for community projects in worldwide surf spots and the English Surfing Federation to help send the UK girls to the European championships.
