The Joe Way Appeal is being supported for the third year by the UK leg of the European longboard tour.

Some of Europe's top longboard surfers will head to the famous Cornish beach to compete in the Asahi European Tour of Longboard (ETL) Watergate Bay presented by O'Neill Wetsuits on 29 and 30 September 2012.

Cornish surfer and reigning champion Ben Skinner is competing as well as organising the event. He is hoping to win this year's competition to make it his tenth European title. He said: "It's always nice to compete at home. I think to have the first event here and kick off the competition on your home beach has definitely got to have a little bit of an advantage.

Ben "Skindog" Skinner and the supporters of the Newquay toddlers appeal have raised over £108,000.00 in four years, of which £70,000.00 has gone towards building Cornwall's first children's hospice which is now up and running.

This year's fundraiser sees a return to the Flowrider at The Retallack Resort and Spa which will start around 6.30pm and will include a Flowrider display, music, raffle, huge charity auction which includes a custom flow board shaped by Skindog and an O'Neill wetsuit.

Saturday night's event is open to families who can enjoy a meal and a drink, hang out with the cream of European longboarding whilst enjoying the entertainment which is all free. If you want to go on the Flowrider there is a discounted price of £15 per person and £5 will be going to Joe's appeal from 6.30pm onwards for one night only.

Matt Way, Joe's dad, said; "We would like to thank Skindog and the sponsors for their continued support, we are looking forward to a great night which all ages can enjoy and this whole weekend is a great showcase for Cornwall".

The Joe Way Appeal will be splitting the funds between Newquay surf life saving club and Surfers against sewage, attendees will also be able to sign the Protect Our Waves petition which aims to generate over 100,000 signatures to highlight the value of surfing waves and beaches. SAS will deliver the petition to 10 Downing Street in summer 2013.

Other sponsors of the surfing event include the Extreme Academy, Newquay Surfing School, Rocky Point, Relentless Energy Drinks, Perranporth Signs & Graphics and Retallack Resort and Spa.
