SANTA CRUZ, California (Thursday, October 23, 2008) – Day Three of the O’Neill Cold Water Classic, an Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 4-Star event, saw Hawaiian standout Sebastian Zietz (Kilauea, HI), 20, stamp the day’s top honors by claiming both the highest single wave score and highest heat total of the event so far, while Kolohe Andino (San Clemente, CA), 14, issued the upset of the event by defeating Steamer Lane local and event favorite, Kieran Horn (Santa Cruz, CA), 34.
GUINCHO, Portugal (Thursday, October 23, 2008) – The Estoril Coast Pro resumed at its back-up venue of Gunicho today, twenty minutes North from Carcavelos, with top seeds getting their start in the ASP World Qualifying Series (WQS) 6-Star event in solid four to six foot (1.2 to 2 meter) waves. After a day-off yesterday, it was time for current ratings’ leaders to take the dust off their boards and surf in the third to last major event of the year that will be crucial regarding end-of-the-year ratings from which the Top 15 will qualify for next year’s ASP World Tour.

CARCAVELOS, Portugal (Wednesday, October 22, 2008) – After six hours of patience, officials and surfers agreed to call the event off for the second day of the waiting period. Some small but inconsistent waves eventually started breaking at Carcavelos but not enough to get top seeds to paddle out.
