Eyes Wide Open

Alvaro Malpartida has spent recent months standing in the shade of perfect barrels in Mexico, Peru, Chile and Indonesia. In his forthcoming movie, Eyes Wide Open, the Peruvian charger shares sessions with the likes of Oscar Moncada, Greg Long, Mark Healy and Anthony Walsh, along with a plethora of local legends. The clips below should serve as a very satisfying appetiser.

Playa Zicatella is one of the key protagonists, and a heavyweight character it is. There are few things more intimidating than the heaving, shifting peaks of the Mexican Pipeline, but these boys seem to take it in their heroic stride.

Above are some offcuts from the Indo section. If these waves didn’t make the cut, imagine how good the final product is.
