The first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, Alex, kicked-up offshore of Texas and the Transworld SURF hurricane hunters were on the ground to track it down. Despite sending swell to some of the oil affected areas the main tidal surge came ashore in Mexico saving the worst of its venom for relatively unaffected areas.
