EX Hurricane Leslie is still spinning out there in the Atlantic and here are the first round of Atlantic Shootout entries from the East Coast. Leslie was a generous provider, albiet one whom could have moved a little faster north thus keeping up her warm water supply. Sadly, in sitting stationary for so long, she created a cool puddle of upwelling and lost the title of the perfect storm alongside her hurricane status. However she's still one of the best swell producing tropical storms we've seen for pure 'fun surf' and tops the 2012 list by a margin. Here's selection of the shots uploaded, we had hundreds and gave priority to those with a little bit of context. Obviously there are a couple of clear favourites (tell us yours in the comments below) but the competition is far from over as Leslie doesn't look like burning out before the weekend. Looking forward, Leslie should transition into an extra-tropical storm and head over to Europe delivering a healthy dose of cyclonic energy from Scotland to Spain. Read the full forecast here. "My brother and I motored out to some islands off the VA Eastern Shore on my ski and stumbled on this right peeling around the corner of an island.: Said Eric. "Just my brother and I camping on the beach for three days. Nothing but mosquitoes, rattle snakes, posion ivy, a few bottles of scotch, great fishing and hurricane swell. "This photo may not be a photography purist's dream, (I snapped it using my $200 compact whilst running to get to the surf) but there is a story to this shot. "Me and my buddy are both in the Air Force, He had been on a 12 hour rescue mission to Quebec the night before, trying to rescue a lost hunter and had no sleep. I was flying around Nova Scotia that afternoon, totally bummed that I was missing the surf, until we hit a load of crows, and were forced to land early. "We blasted down the coast, some 1.5 hours drive, to be greated with this sight! We surfed it alone like this for three hours until dark. One of the heaviest sessions I have ever surfed in Nova Scotia! I lived in Scotland for four years and this spot reminds me so much of Brimms Ness, also a few spots in Ireland... "After driving up coast earlier in the week and getting skunked by devil winds, I headed back up coast on the weekend. This was the first place I checked on Saturday afternoon after a two hour drive.
