The joe Way Paddle for Life Event helped Cornwall College's surf science students with their media model, by allowing and assisting them in filming and interviewing team members at the 2010 Paddle for life event.
For many of the students it was their first opportunity to pick up a camera and carry out real life interviews. Part of their challenge was to create and produce a short film about Joe's story, taking it in different direction from that of the original DVD which was produced and released in 2009
Founder of the Joe Way Appeal, Matt Way said; "Every participating student has done a great job and it was great to see how they have taken to Joe's story. I would like to thank them all for what that they have done and we will select some of the short films to be included in the 2011 appeals DVD; which will be released in April this year".
The original 8 minute DVD of Joe' story is currently being used by the Paediatric Community Services as part of their training programme for carers and also for recruitment.
The 2011 DVD will have new chapters of the story, along with information on the 2009 and 2010 Paddle, TV and radio interviews in addition to short film clips from the various students from Cornwall College picked by international longboard champion and charity ambassador Ben "SKINDOG" Skinner.
The DVD will be produced by Scott Dickinson, head of Media for the Joe Way appeal and the 200 copies are being donated by Mitch from 'Three Films' with the covers being kindly printed by Newquay printers P&J Print; a real community project!
The short, yet inspiring DVD will be distributed to various schools, fundraising groups, families, carers of disabled children and those who will hopefully be inspired. To view the students films please visit www.joewaypaddle.co.uk
