"Getting ready was pretty wild in this weather," said Glenn Hall. "I was in an extra large raincoat that our accommodation provided us while I was waiting for my heat. I could hardly move under it, but it was all good." Glenn posted the highest score of the competition so far - an 8.83 - with solid surfing in the clean 4 foot conditions. "I've freesurfed every morning since I've been here and found a little spot that works for me," he said. "I feel like it's a massive bonus knowing where I am in the lineup."

However they were still given quite a show with the likes of Cory Lopez, Yadin Nicol and Julian Wilson in the water today - Julian of course having some fun with his progressive surfing. "I love it here," said Julian. "I am really enjoying it. Plus, these wetsuits are so warm, you don't even notice the weather."

Second placed Stuart Kennedy, and fourth placed Dion Atkinson have already passed through this round of 96 with, currently 3rd in the rankings, looking to get in the water tomorrow to take over the lead from Royden.
