MAKAHA, Oahu/Hawaii (Wednesday, November 3, 2010) - Round 1 of the Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships is underway this morning in clean four-to-six foot (1.5-2 metre) conditions at the famous righthand pointbreak of Makaha.
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships is a winner-take-all event, with the event winner clinching the title of ASP World Longboard Champion.
"We've got clean conditions this morning and are looking to run a full day of competition," Eli Curry, Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships Head Judge said. "We're hoping to finish both rounds 1 and 2 today, but we'll continue to monitor conditions throughout the day."
Yesterday saw a massive swell detonate the Hawaiian Islands, forcing competition off, but the remaining swell is still providing the excellent canvas for performance longboarding to begin the main event.
The Oxbow ASP World Longboard Championships holds a waiting period from October 30 through November 7, 2010.
