After the draw was complete, current Indonesian Surfing Championship Tour ratings leader Pepen Hendrik found himself in Heat 5 with the 'mystery surfer'.
"It could be someone really heavy," Hendrik said. "If they are leaving one spot in the contest open, it's probably for a really good surfer. I'll just have to wait and see.
For Brit big wave freesurfer, Tom Lowe, who's amazingly competing in his first event, this is special one.
"I'm over the moon to be invited, I'm from a small fishing village in Cornwall with no waves, so to be at the ceremony the other night next to Kalani Chapman, Flyn and boys like that... My life in the UK seem a world away from where I'm at now.
"Pandang as a wave is perfect, an easy drop into a heavy round barrel, you can't ask for more!"
Right now, at the start of the holding period a few initially interesting looking bumps are failing to live up to expectations and the wait is on.
