Quik Double-Up

For the first time, Newquay (UK) hosts the European Final of the Quiksilver King of the Groms and the last event of the ASP Pro Junior Circuit, the Quiksilver Pro Junior UK 4-Star.
The Champions of tomorrow will be at Fistral Beach 25-29 August to take on the waves at England's most famous surfing beach.

Newquay (Fistral Beach), the surfing Mecca of Britain hosts these two competitions for the first time. Situated in the South West of England, the Cornish coast provides the most consistent surfing in England.

QUIKSILVER PRO JUNIOR UK 4 STAR (27-29 August)

The Quiksilver Pro Junior UK 4* (only 4* in Europe) is the last of 7 events on the European Junior Tour, which will crown the European Junior Champion. 80 young international surfers are expected at this event fighting for a share of the $20 000 prize money.

THE LEVEL
The best international riders will compete in the European Tour Event. All aged Under 21, the surfers will try everything to win this last event. Vasco Ribeiro, the current junior ratings leader hopes to end with a victory in England but nothing is settled yet. With a victory comes 1000 points, meaning many can still claim the European title.

Vasco Ribeiro
After a thunderous season, marked by many victories, the Quiksilver team surfer Vasco Ribeiro, at 17 years old is on track to become European Junior Champion at Fistral Beach. A victory here would be the perfect end to his perfect season, as the young Portuguese already won a silver medal at the ISA World Championships in May.

Dimitri Ouvré
The Frenchman Dimitri Ouvre, aged 19, has also had a sensational season and intends to thwart the plans of the Portuguese prodigy. Winner of the Pro Junior of Cantabria (Spa) in May, the surfer originally from St Barts in the Antilles is actually third in in the European Junior ratings. European Champion in the under 18s and double French Champion (Junior and Open) in 2010, he'll do anything to repeat his performances this year.

TWO WILDCARDS

The English Toby Donachie will benefit from a wildcard to participate in the Quiksilver Pro Junior and is at home in the Cornish waves. Aged 19, he will be a hometown favourite and will be a threat with his local knowledge of the waves.

The second wildcard will be given to the winner of the European King of the Groms Final.

EUROPEAN QUIKSILVER KING OF THE GROMS FINAL (25-26 AUGUST)

For the first time this year, the European final of the Quiksilver King of the Groms, the competition of reference for elite international youngsters (aged under 16), will be held in Newquay directly before the Quiksilver Pro Junior UK ASP 4*.

After a European qualifying tournament, the names of the 32 surfers who have qualified for the final in Newquay are finally unveiled. All have participated in national qualification events to earn their ticket for this European Final. A wildcard will complete the final heat sheet. It has been given to the young Leonardo Fiorvanti; the 14 year old who was last year's winner. The Italian has made an impression around the world after winning against older opponents. He will also participate in the Quiksilver Pro Junior UK 4*.

The competition will be fierce. At stake for the top 2 continental finalists will be a ticket for the International final which will be held during the Quiksilver Pro France (4-13 October) where they will rub shoulders with the World's elite surfers (Kelly Slater, Jeremy Flores, Dane Reynolds…) on the Basque-Landes coast of SW France.
