PRESENTING Relative the film to watch here in full. A movie about surfing, the ocean, family and places important to the protagonists - featuring Ed and Jak Smith and created by Mr B, (Anthony Butler). How did Our World Is Blue start? Mr B After a break from filming surfing, I was lucky enough to be part of 'The Endless Winter' team. Once we finished the main shoot I didn't want to just stop filming again, so I started filming with Ed and Jak to help them get a bit of footage, eventually we decided to make a short film, then I wrote a treatment for a film and everything just bloomed from there. It was never meant to be a 30 minute film. After a while Nicolas (from Aqualise) came on board and we started the Our World Is Blue Project so this film was the catalyst for the whole project... © 2013 Mr B
Mr B My overriding memory of making this film is swimming out to out-to-sea waves, or swimming out through big washy beach breaks in cold water. As I didn't have any pressure with this film, I ended up filming in the water a lot, because it's what I enjoy the most, that's the reason there's so much water footage in there. © 2013 Mr B
Mr B I also used this film as a way to experiment with different techniques and equipment. I wanted lots of different types of shots in there, not just for the sake of it, but to add to the viewing experience and increase audience engagement. © 2013 Mr B
Mr B It has been tricky making this film as it's been made on no budget and has been shot in the few bits of spare time we could find between me looking after my daughter and working, Jak working, and Ed at School. So it's been a long process, but it makes the finished film so much more special, knowing the difficulties of getting it made. The film will be screened at the Waimea Ocean Film Festival (as will The Endless Winter) in January 2013. © 2013 Mr B
Mr B As always the film wouldn't be anything without the music, so just want to say thanks to all the artists involved: Aqualise, Boogie Belgique, The R.O.A.R., Azedia, DKRT, jCoke and ROBA Music. The Relative Soundtrack will be available on iTunes and other platforms in January 2013. © 2013 Mr B
Ed Smith I never thought I'd be involved in anything like this, I've always just thought we'd make point and shoot short surf vids. But doing this has definitely opened my eyes to what we can do. Working on all the non-surf sections was a different experience, and shooting with Mr B in the water is so different to just going surfing! © 2013 Mr B
Jak Smith The fact is if you want to see short clips of incredible surfing you can just type 'Dane Reynolds' into google and there you go. I know I'm never going to be able to compete with that, so I want to be involved in films that find new and interesting ways to engage the audience. I think we'd all like the next thing we do to have a budget and a smaller time frame, something we can concentrate on without the distractions of normal life! © 2013 Mr B
If you want to continue the story and have arrived this far get stuck in to the 'making of' film here. Finally a big thanks to XCEL Wetsuits and NT Surfboards for all their support. © 2013 Mr B
