SEIGNOSSE, France (Friday, August 29, 2008) - The 2008 Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle will recommence today at 12:15pm with the intention of crowning a champion by day’s end.

Event No. 3 of 8 on the 2008 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle will make the most of the today’s dying swell, looking to complete all seven heats through the Final this afternoon.

The surf is still in the two-to-three foot (1 metre) range today and it looks like this will be our best opportunity to finish,” Dave Mailman, ASP Europe President, said. “There are still some really contestable waves out there and we’ll look run the Quarters, Semis and Final, crowning an event champion by the end of the day.”

Yesterday’s Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle action saw the ASP Women’s World Title race shaken up as event wildcard Lee Ann Curren (FRA), 19, upset current ratings leader Sofia Mulanovich (PER), 25, in Round 3 before reigning ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore posted an incredible 19.50 out of a possible 20, including a perfect 10, to ice 2008 Dream Tour rookie Karina Petroni (USA), 20.

Curren will take on current ASP Women’s World No. 9 Jessi Miley Dyer (AUS), 22, in Quarterfinal 2 while Gilmore will face veteran campaigner Jacqueline Silva (BRA), 29, in Quarterfinal 3.

Surf-report.com, official forecasters for the 2008 Rip Curl Pro Mademoiselle, are calling for surf to remain in the two-to-three foot (1 metre) range throughout the day with clean conditions.

Up first will be current ASP Women’s World No. 3 Amee Donohoe (AUS), 27, up against former seven-time ASP Women’s World Champion Layne Beachley (AUS), 36, in Quarterfinal 1.
