EL NINO has dominated the surfing press recently. Epic sessions going down on the USA's West Coast, biggest ever Hawaii, largest sock ever seen, etc. But whilst the whole world has been going NPAC crazy the South Africans have been scoring. Slightly more quietly.
Typically El Nino brings drought to SA but not this season on the Western Cape, out to sea typical winter low pressures off South America have driven swell after swell against the coast.
Ant Fox, our favourite SA photog lifts the lid on SA's bumper summer:
We've been delivered from the usual shitty and flat Summer doldrums and dropped right into one of the best summers in years. This shot was really the lift-off of the El Nino season for us-a solid long range groundswell with all the ingredients normally reserved for our Winters-local standout and 'CT campaigner Dave Richards enjoying a sick pit at his local after a lengthy flat spell.
