Recently SAS has learnt that Anglian water reduce sewage treatment outside the bathing season. The lack of UV sewage treatment dramatically increases the health risks to surfers and other waveriders from pathogens like E-coli 0157, Hep A, Gastro Enteritis and so on.
Anglian Water reduces UV treatment at both Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe. Both of these beaches support surf communities that deserve year round protection.
The Environment Agency stipulated that for a water company to reduce treatment they must prove an absence of water users and that the reduced treatment must not impact on water quality.
