Music and surfers get ready to Party for charity

The ETL international longboard competition comes to Watergate Bay over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of October which attracts the cream of the continent's longboard surfers.

Ben "Skindog" Skinner has been the in-form surfer in European competitions this year, wrapping up the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) European longboard title in August, and last weekend claiming a win at Vieux Boucau, south west France, in the first of four ETL events.

Skindog who is one of the Joe Way Paddle for life fundraising ambassadors has for the second year running added a fundraising element to the weekend's events of the 2 star rated O'Neill Classic.

The Joe Way Paddle for Life started after lifeguards from Fistral Beach held a Joe Way memorial paddle to raise money for charity in 2008. Joe is the inspirational little boy who touched people's lives around the country and beyond.

This year's paddle saw nearly 200 paddlers of all ages and abilities taking part in the fun 1km race to do their bit to raise money for some of the 20 charities now supported by the Joe Way appeal.

On Saturday 8th from 7pm the best of Cornish music will be playing at The Phoenix, Watergate Bay including Charlie Wingfield, Grey Dog and Ben Sutcliff all ready to put on a first class show for the European visitors.

Ben Skinner said "The money raised at this years Joe Way appeal event will go to the Matthew Upsher foundation which is a cause we are really stoked to support, Matt was a friend so I feel very humbled for this event to help the foundation set up in his memory".

Last years ETL charity night raised £300 at the flowrider for the Precious Lives appeal. Skindog surfboard's with Skinners Ales have already raised £800 this year at the mobile flowrider and Skindog surf camp for the Joe Way appeal which is the Newquay mayor Andy Hannan's chosen charity this year.

All are welcome to experience an amazing night of music, great food and Drink along with a charity auction with a £1000 worth of lots including £250 worth of 100% organics skin care products, male and female O'Neill wetsuits, a whole host of O'Neill goodies, Relentless gear, a full vehicle graphics wrap worth £250 from Perranporth signs and some surprise lots from Skinners Ales.
