The Africa Project by Jason Hearn

by on Wednesday 17th July, 2013   13762 Visits   Comments

THIS Africa Project video from Jason Hearn is mind-blowing. A filmmaker on a mission.

Africa is a mystical continent, familiar to surfers through the dusty images from the classic hippy trail to Morocco, those pier side barrels of the Durban beaches, or a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to the hallowed waters of J-Bay. But what of Namibia, Senegal and beyond?

“It’s a three year film project on surfing in Africa through the eyes of a surfer.” Said Jason. “Filmed, directed and edited by myself. Featuring the best surfers in Africa, the landscapes, cultures, people and some of the most incredible waves that can be found anywhere.”

Like a lot of the waves in the edit, this one is a grower. Dusty Payne and Yadin Nicol make light work of things you'd sail on by.
