Quiksilver King of the Groms 2103

by on Friday 26th April, 2013   2079 Visits   Comments

This year, the King of the Groms becomes 100% digital. All those 16yrs and under surfers out there still have two months (till June 30th, 2013) to post their surf video. The clips will first be voted online by the public. They will then be judged by Quiksilver pro surfers and big surfing names who will decide the selected surfers for the King of the Groms International final to be held at the Quiksilver Pro France, from September 26th to October 6th in Hossegor.

“I think the new format is brilliant! I wish we had this when I was a grom! Sending in video clips gives Groms around the world to properly show their talents and express themselves without the stress of hassling for waves and time limits that you get in heats.”Travis Logie

How to take part in the KOTG?

1. UPLOAD
Subscribe and post your 1 minute 30 second video with your best waves and vibes before June 30th on: www.quiksilverlive.com. Please remember to use the music provided on the resources page (all rules listed in the ‘Terms & Conditions link online).

2. VOTE
From July 1st to 31st, the videos are published online and members of the public now have to vote for their favorites. It’s time to call up family and friends on social networks in order to get the highest number of “Likes”!

3. FINAL SELECTION
The jury’s decision: 15 international young surfers will be chosen to participate in the KOTG final along with the event’s 3 wildcards (Kanoa Igarashi, Leonardo Fioravanti & Jack Robinson). Among the judges, kids will find Euskadi’s surfer Aritz Aranburu to select Europe’s two representatives, ASP World Tour member Travis Logie, judging for the African region. On the North America & Hawaii territory, selection for the final will be done by Kelly Slater and Dane Reynolds themselves!

4. KOTG FINAL
The King of the Groms International Final will be held during the Quiksilver Pro France from September 26th to October 6th in Hossegor. The finalists will have the unique opportunity to surf in front of their favorite pro surfers.

“Filming our surfing has always been one of the best things to improve our technic. I’m loving this initiative of Quiksilver, the kids will have the opportunity to show their talent all over the world. I still remember the day I won the trophy… It opened so many gates to me. Can’t wait to check some footage boys!!! Best of luck.”Aritz Aranburu
