Shots like this just prove that surfers can ride anything you boogie-sliders can... and make it look even more hardcore... Not to mention the guys doing ARS's on surfboards aswell
arguing about the merits of lids against sticks, whilst looking at a monster like this, distracts from the intensity of the situation, devalues the photo and nuts of the rider. In my [limited] experience, the heavier the surf, the less people care about what shape your board is and the more they hoot and holler each other into bombs. If you want to prove a b-board is as sick as anything else in the water, then charge, charge and don't antagonize. Nobody cares for assertions of the supremacy of sponges online, they'll only care if a booger impresses them in the water.
jug and RCJ are two of the best surfers too come outta the central coast. this shot still makes my jaw drop...pretty sure the lip is thicker then he is tall.

Good knowledge bomb adg7, nice to get a bit of background on this horror story. Tow-ins should have wing mirrors attached precisely for this reason. That and the fact that you can check to see the colour from your face drain away when you do a Muenchkler.
