i laughed when i saw that too, but actually its not far from the truth, the best waves are rare and mostly happen on cold winter days when no one is here anyway, its not really a surf-tourist hot spot

Well....yes. It really is flat here most of the year. We get surf maybe once a month, not ever worth visiting, especially as the ferry is £81.50 for a return from the mainland. Just go to Bournemouth or Brighton, thats where the real good waves are. Once, it was 6ft...but onshore.
