What can I say? Sometimes you have to be patient when trying to get out in a big swell.

getting out is going to be easy compared to getting back in... like to see a pic of that too!

This shot just epitomizes the spirit of adventure and danger inherent in this amazing activity we have all chosen to do.

The aspect of the public looking 'from the outside looking in' is partly what makes what we do interesting and so much fun....Surfing dangerous looking waves, surfing in freezing conditions....etc is all part of the sense of well being and achievement we feel afterwards. I remember about 15 years ago watching a live weather report where a TV reporter was in extreme coastal conditions shouting dramatically at the camera.....big waves, howling winds etc....and this surfer ran past behind her trying to find a spot to get in for a surf......It was not a friend or anyone I know, but as I sat there in front of the TV chuckling away at the extreme worlds of the two people in the TV screen, I felt really proud to be part of the world the lunatic going for a surf existed in. I f*cking love this sh*t we do. Cheers for the photo. x

They've already been out and come back in. they're just waiting for the guy's left arm to wash back up so they can go home.

I apologise for this one in advance :( Never had the old aussie surf adage of 'No Fat Chicks' seemed more appropriate than today, the inaugural Wollongong Cliff Jumping Contest.

Amazing photo.. great light, could look like apocalyptic moment imagining this water pooring down from the sky .. Is it like any normal day there or was it particularly huge?

What happened to Paddy Long? I miss him. I`ll comment on this photo in a poor approximation of his inimitable style: "Get the feck in there ye feckin poofs"
