Yokahama Bay, Westside of Oahu. Insane day of surf. This is a small set. The big ones where about 8' Plus, Island style. Love it! Water 75* Air 85* Off shore winds all day! Look for more like this all summer. Aloha Barry.

Even hawaiaan styels this is more than 8 feet, which as mentioned is a nonsensical method of sizing a wave. Far better to use the relative head high, double overhead measurement which works for gnomes and giants alike. Nothing like undersizing a wave to get yo'self some extra man-points.

What's the point in having your own measurement for waves if each time you use it you have to qualify it by saying Hawaiian Size etc? Great shot though mate.

it was blatently a 'mate dispute' over the fella who takes off and says "YEEEEOW! Did you see me on that sick 8' bomb?!" and their mates say, "whatchu on about boy? theres no way that were bigger than 3' from where we were sitting?!" I might add, hawaiian's and yorkshire men have similar accents...

yeah i don't really get the point either, i mean i understand what you measure and how it works, but why not just say 7-8ft (face) and thats how big it is? I mean, nobody rides the back of the wave...

hawaiian size is measured from the back of the wave up, whereas most measure the face of the wave. so like 3 foot hawaiian is basically like 7-8ft anywhere else in the world.
