In my eyes the main cause for complaint is how much money went into it! I mean £3m could go along way for any worthy cause but I can also think of many ways in which it could be wasted. I dont think this was a waste, just an expensive wave!
I see your point but you have to look at the bigger picture, from the council and non surfing publics point of view it isn't or shouldn't be about the wave at all. It's about creating a focal point which will generate publicity, tourism and revenue. It gives boscombe an edge above all the seaside towns in the area by giving it something unique. By the look at your photo's (awesome by the way) your from Kernow and probably don't know the area (Apologies if you do)!? The immediate surrounding area of the reef/pier has dramatically changed over the last
few years, it's cleaner, more friendly and less dangerous. This is all due to the knock on effect the reef has caused. In my opinion it is money well spent and i still would have though the same if the wave was cack. Do you see what i mean?
4 - 6 ft in Bournemouth? 10ft Faces? you guys must be smoking something??????? Bournemouth never gets over 3ft - 4ft faces??????? 10ft Face is double to tripple overhead dumbasses!!!!!
I watched it 20 mins at about 11am before the wind switched. Waves were breaking off the end of the pier and all over the area. 4-6ft faces tops. Every so often a wave would break on the reef that looked something like the one in the photo but they were very short lived as the end effects of the reef effect the way the wave breaks.
Good photo though.
This was taken just before lunch yesterday as the wind was swinging round to the west and dropping. General surf height was 4ft (8-10ft faces). Ignore anything that you have heard before about the reef as this was the first proper south west storm of Autumn - not the junky southerly wind swell we have had in recent weeks.
Im impressed, just assumed it would be crap for some reason. Although, without getting into a silly wave size debate this is not 8-10 foot. Thats just wrong. Would love to see it at 8-10 foot.
