Yep I like it, this shot that is, not marmite. That stuff is just all kinds of wrong. I wouldn’t even lick marmite off a supermodel’s supple thighs. Anyway nice shot, if it were a touch sharper it would be just like this one, it even has the onlooker. (http://magicseaweed.com/photoLab/viewPhoto.php?photoId=127581) It’s pretty much a mirror image of this photo….if the mirror needed a clean.

thanks for all your commits and your critiques of my photo! Personally i really like the angle, love the lighting and the on looker but i could have dialed in my camera settings and lens a little better for a crisper shot... Aloha

SoCal gets good on its day, which isnt very often. right?

I nearly changed my mind after seeing surfline.com's Cali photos of the recent December swells, although Hawaii was also macking. It does get epic in CA, and yes its got plenty of coastline. But, friends whove moved to Hawaii from California tell me So Cal 'doesnt even compare' for size and power. Their statements, not mine. Not saying it isnt dope in CA for surf and other stuff also like snowboarding, parties, etc.

Disagree - was there for a month on and off during October/November. In that time there were several days that I would describe as "classic" even if they were not necessarily "all time". There were some flat spells, too, but an average day in Socal would be considered classic compared to England (I know that is not really saying much!). It is rarely windy so if there is swell the waves are almost always clean, and many of the beaches have good banks that produce good hollow waves in any swell. Black's beach will separate the men from the boys even at 3 feet. A true "classic" day in Socal means world class waves by any measure - the beachbreaks are as good as any in France or Australia and while it is not Indo there are a good number of classic reef set ups right in the heart of San Diego (and some further afield) that light up with the slightest hint of swell (Windansea being the best known but there are plenty of others nearby). I love surfing in Socal (despite the crowds) and my bro lives there, so I am biased, but compared to what I usually surf in Cornwall, Socal is almost always "classic"!
