There is average swell on the east coast but there is 2 foot of snow on the hills - snowboarding it is, snow will be gone soon! its actually rarer than a decent east coast swell....

Snurfing is the way forward. Take the fins of your board and surf it down a snow covered hillside. trust me its amazing!

i would rather glide down a powdery mountain than surf a crappy swell, however i agree that when the swell cranks there is nothing to touch it.

Snow boarding is fun and all but isn't it funny how nothing really compares to surfing? Once you have the bug its all over. Of all the competitive sports I've played none even comes close to getting shacked, or even nosing down a 2ft wave on a long board for that matter. Lacrosse, football (both kinds), baseball, swimming, wrestling, track, tennis, racquetball, skiing, snowboarding, skating, downhill longboard-skaing, hockey, rugby, basketball....yep played em all and most in legit competitive leagues but none compares to even a rather crappy swell.
