Your comparison is true. SOCal guys generally like smaller waves. (not all of them obviously). But, SOcal can get heavy, on a big west (see southbeach photos, or newport wedge) Regardless, any tube, big or small, is unreal, like being frozen in time.

That's a wave I grew up on back in 74-80... I got my first barrel (it was backside) at 10th street. Sure did hate summer though till I got friends that had cars.
