I know I have seen a similar shaped object with a string attached somewhere else before. But where? It will come to me one day this month, memory can be a cyclic thing you know? Periodically random memories will just pop into my head. My brain is just super absorbant I suppose.

Does anyone know why the majority of SUP riders are absolute tools? I can't understand it.

I guess the same thing happens when you put a fatty in a pie shop

thanks for the comments guys, you can see the SUP and a surfer on the same wave a few moments before this, a page back in my MSW photos, and lots more from that day in the 'You Should Have Been Here Yesterday' blogs on soul-surfing.co.uk

Yeah, nice work, that other shot with him paddling towards the wall reminds me of the bit in the “The Perfect Storm†movie where Clooney goes looney and puts the boat into full tilt, shouting at the monster rogue wave that capsizes him. “COME ON YOU BITCH!!â€

yeh guilty as charged :) but it is cool to see what was happening moments before, he seemed to have no fear and just kept on paddling straight at walls of water that were clearly gonna flatten him

leash or no leash...longboards still hurt when they come down. the little bungee just gives the board something to aim at.

I have been waiting a long time for a S.U.P. photo that I can honestly say I really like. This is it. Nice work mate. I’d like to believe there is even a bit of camera shake from when you were laughing your ass off while taking the shot. Fair play to the wave rider for having a crack at it in those conditions as well. +5 to both of you!

funny you should say that, he did lose his paddle too, i got some pics of him standing up on the SUP after looking for it :)

yep, there were a few of us watching that one and it made everyone smile :) And i agree fair play to the SUP rider too, he definitely had some balls, i did write a little thing on my soul-surfing blog about it maybe not really being the sort of conditions an inexperienced SUP should be out in, at a pretty heavy reef/point, and the guy in question came on and spoke up for himself.
