Not actually Shipstern Bluff, far outside. Check out the article: http://magicseaweed.com/The-Next-Level-Content/2414/ for the full story. The raw power of this wave was unbelievable, any takers?

Bro i have so much respect for the crazy surfers that have the ballz to ride these monsters!!!
BuzyG May 11, 2010 Rating: 1
I can tell from the photo that this is a nice shaped wave. Unfortunatley without something or some, (insane), one in the shot, there is no way to tell if is 100ft, or 15ft. Even a video would at leased show the speed/size of the wee beast. But a still shot, nice though it is, simply can't tell me what I need to know about that wave. Hence it scores a mean 2 from me.
Francois Bouwer Apr 8, 2011 Rating: 2
Well, actually I would have to agree with the guy. If I didn't know about this wave and if I haven't read about it in a magazine with actual people on it, I wouldn't know whether it is 6ft or 60ft. But, since I did see a photo of someone on it, I would have to say it is about a 70ft face... I wouldn't give the photo a 2 just on the fact that there is no way to tell the size though... I will still give it a 4-5.
SpongeSurfer May 11, 2010 Rating: -1
Well Buzy, since you doubt the actual size of the wave and call the people who were actually there liars, maybe you should be the first to size it up in person.....since it only looks "15 feet"!! Honestly, you really don't need to know anything about the wave because you will never have the ballz to surf it!

good one, it's funny cuz like, the wave is actually a bit of a beast...nice, I understand the complexity of your wit
William Slattery May 8, 2010 Rating: -1
Actually, nobody even tried to surf this when the got there. That heaving barrel pinches off just a little bit ahead.
BritishQuadFish May 8, 2010 Rating: -3
who would ACTUALLY surf that? Sum1 with a screw loose... its probably got a high percentage of making the section but i would still never surf something so violent looking!...
Younes May 7, 2010 Rating: -3
How cool would it be to have someone actually riding dakine of stuff commenting on these with us... Just to add perspective to what is experienced during those moments
mantis May 8, 2010 Rating: -1
thanks soutie for pointing this out. I was going to but I didnt want to come off not modest
Rollinbarrin May 7, 2010 Rating: -3
On Surfline it said it was 40-50 feet. Personally I think it looks like Jaws on steroids. Or ecstasy.
dangalow May 7, 2010 Rating: 3
When Popeye says'" Shiver me timber,".....is he referring to the log he just dropped in his pants? If so....YES, shiver down the spine straight into my poopy under-roos....I rock the transformer ones...
mantis May 6, 2010 Rating: 7
I was there and I went left and got fully shacked. I like to live dangerously. I also fought the 18 foot whitey. Suck on that
Spongerdudette May 9, 2010 Rating: -2
No your comment wasn't offensive. But when I read it I thought that you were in hhhmmm ''serious mode'' ...that's all :)
Lennox_Rox May 9, 2010 Rating: 2
So, spongerdudette, was my post offensive in any way? I posted it for the technophobics that may not have seen it.
Portpipe May 8, 2010 Rating: 0
there you go, i head to Tahiti with dinnsey for a soul surf thinking "leash? nah grand" then some hoor shows up in bermuda ripping her to shreds. made me a bit sick in my mouth by hey, at least she's getting rode.
Spongerdudette May 8, 2010 Rating: -2
Ha yeah Toad that's the one....good find. Okay different place but something :)
IceCreamHead May 8, 2010 Rating: 1
Trying to duck dive that'd be like snuggling up with a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
Spongerdudette May 8, 2010 Rating: -2
It's just a bit of friendly banter Lennox_Rox. There's a photo on msw somewhere going back a year or so ago of someone taking the wave on an inflatable dinosaur....so just fun :)
dangalow May 8, 2010 Rating: -1
Brag about charging this?...I create bigger waves than this when I dump.....

Ooooh what heroes, so brave , so strong, what female couldn't be impressed by that :p
Rich Walsh May 7, 2010 Rating: 4
Luxury ! I drove out into that in my jeep, leapt out the window neat as a blasted pansy and tamed that fecker on a matchstick from the ashtray, it was very dark with my welding mask on too..
mantis May 7, 2010 Rating: 5
What jet ski? I paddled out. And I wasnt wearing a wetsuit either. Just my tight tight leopard skin handcrafted budgie smugglers and a swiss army knife strapped to my leg.

Good on ya, mate. And it's damn good to know there's internet in the afterlife. That's got the face of Jaws, the lip of Teahupoo ... and the teeth of a Great White.
the vanity project May 6, 2010 Rating: 4
Bloody photographer was changing memory cards at the time eh Manty? Seriously though. No wonder no one is out. Imagine the scene: you are all kitted up and making your way out on the jetski and as these chunky puppys roll in the thunderous bass from the wave detonation sends cheeky vibrations up through the half empty petrol tank you are sat on and then before you know it you are nursing a fairly respectable semi through your wettie. You can imagine the headlines in the Daily Mail “BIG WAVE PERVERTS RISK THEIR LIVES IN 50FT SURF JETSKI DANGER-WANK†Good name for a dvd that: Big wave perverts. Get it done Collective, anything to annoy the Daily Mail.

just looking at this pic gives me that scared feeling in my chest, ill admit it, thats just f'in scarey!!!!
coastroad May 6, 2010 Rating: 0
That's like one of the cartoon waves I use to draw on my maths book at school, a perfect peak on a biblical scale. All it needs is a tiny stick figure soul-arching deep under that lip.
My fuckin ovens busted!! May 6, 2010 Rating: 0
why does everyone on this site drop comments about waves like this as if you would actually go anywhere near it? as for great whites they are just big dog fish. They are really nice when you get to know one. I saw a documentary on them where this bloke was smoothing one. The attacks are all your faults for surfing thier reefs.

why are you on this site talking about me talking about great whites like you would actually go near me?. as for you saying about you saying about you surfing that wave, I don't think you would do what you say you would do. and I certainly don't think it is as small as you say it is when you were talking about it. I thank you
Dr Fargon May 9, 2010 Rating: 3
Actually back in my day I used to have to surf waves just like this to get to school....only it was snowing, Getting home was even tougher cuz my momma wouldn't let me duck dive in my school clothes.
SurfingChimp May 6, 2010 Rating: -1
exactly what I was thinking. paddling back out and finding your self at the bottom of the lip. Not even a duck dive would get you anywhere deep enough to escape the impact. personally. I know I would never surf something anywhere near this size.
stritch May 6, 2010 Rating: -3
why are you on this site dropping comments about great whites as if you would actually go anywhere near one? As for the wave, it doesn’t look that big. I’m sure I could surf that blindfolded with my two legs behind my back.....
My fuckin ovens busted!! May 6, 2010 Rating: -1
look at the photo and imagine yourself taking that lip across your lower spine as you try to duck dive it...........ow
7 May 6, 2010 Rating: -1
Ok, now we have a real need for photoshop: someone who was there, paste a person on the face to scale. I, at least, need to know how far under the bed I need to hide.
JAKELLOYD May 6, 2010 Rating: 0
THIS IS NOT THE BLUFF.....ITS A PLACE CALLED WYATT'S REEF....WHEN THE PHOTOS WERE TAKEN AN 18 FOOT GREAT WHITE WAS SPOTTED CLOSE BY.....WAVES LIKE THAT WITH SHARKS LIKE THAT IS A HORROR STORY...TWIGGY I DON'T BLAME YOU FELLAS FOR NOT TOWING IN TO ONE THAT DAY....LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE FIRST PERSON WHO SNAGS ONE OUT THERE.....WYATT's REEF
turtledOve-efU May 6, 2010 Rating: 0
Wow.... thats not shippies but..it is crazy heavy ..i agree sneakybadger ..it would be sick to have some kind of comparison ..if thats wat u saying !
dangalow May 7, 2010 Rating: 0
Is that what's on the ad banner there?....using the ad banner we have here for reference, the mail order bride gives us a wave height in the thigh high range.....because it shows nothing else......
the vanity project May 6, 2010 Rating: -3
If you look to the left of the image the msw ad banner has the two go-pro guys, looks about head high if we use them as a rough guide. In fact they are hunched over a bit so lets say shoulder high.
Sneakybadger May 6, 2010 Rating: -2
Be good to see a ski (or something) a little closer in. It's obviously big but would be cool to see how big!
dangalow May 7, 2010 Rating: -1
WHAT!?....I gave away my expensive "extension" pills, and bought a water bed because I was told it was all about the motion in the ocean.....
the vanity project May 6, 2010 Rating: -2
Surely size is irrelevant when the cameraman actually has to point his lens up to get the wave in frame.
