I like this wave so much that I too would be prepared to don some thermals, rubber undies, thermal socks, 20mm suit, booties and a hoodie for good measure. As long as there is no wind chill, if there is wind chill then I'm out..

I've seen it similar(a little smaller) but hollower and a lot more intense. This is what i do not understand, do people in our area not want to get better? The Aussies, Irish, Saffa's etc have no problems with heavy slabs regardless of what board they ride. The way i see it, if you want a mellower wave there are are plenty of places to go on clean or windy conditions. However it would be nice if we "kept" this new option, of a wave that has a bit of grunt to it. It's frankly embarrassing that it is all over the news with "experts" saying it is too challenging! Try telling that to the Shipsterns crew, they will laugh in your face. Their only concern is to make it as accessible as possible so any tom dick and harry can surf it (bigger crowd = bigger bucks). Who the hell want to share a singular (bog standard) peak with 50 "all gear and no idea" holiday makers! So come on Bournemouthians, buck up FFS! (none of this is aimed directly at you old surfer, just using this as an excuse to vent) ps, To anyone that wondering we are talking about the artificial Boscombe reef.

probly just a hell long wave period? either that or this is the very first wave out of bed that morning
dangalow May 19, 2010 Rating: 0
I think it's from the wind blowing in the direction of the face of the wave?

I guess, but a wave that size will usually have the inside a little churned up, this shot is like total glass everywhere except for the overhead wave.
