Oi cheeky leave it out ;) But the funny thing is that after reading your first comment I did try to find out about it. Could it possibily be something to do with the SS Tararua that sunk in 1891????? And this place has been name Ship's Stern Bluff because not only does the cliff face look like the stern of a ship but some form of memorial/recognition of the wreck???? Really don't know soooooo maybe a local could enlighten us more!! But Coelocanth I hadn't even notice that until you pointed it out, so +1 for you :)

But I'd like to hear what Spongerdudette thinks about the shipwreck theory.;)

I'm gonna make a wild guess here and say maybe that bluff on the right reminded someone of an old ship's(think Spanish galleon...or maybe that 'Mutiny On The Bounty' ship...'The Bounty'...Dohhh!)stern.

I agree with Seahog, you get the full picture with this one. I don't ever want to surf here, for two reasons, 1) it's in Oz! 2) I would die!

If I had to choose a place to die it would be going over the falls at Teahupoo, I would go with a smile (that you would have to scrape out of the coral)

the chances of almost killing yourself at this place are epic, not to mention the sharky waters!! but then again the reward for making it would be something special, not that i'm ever going to know

Nice to see the backdrop here. I've seen many pictures of waves here but never the landscape. Truely Awesome! Thanks.
