The story goes, that a guy who used to surf it used to give his missus a winki pop. Not sure where that came from, but the break was apparently named after that. The next break down the coast is called Boobs. (Seriously).

I saw the thumbnail image and straight away said, "That's Winki!" An awesome break when it is on. I'd even go as far as to say it is better than Snapper or Burleigh on their big days cos the Gold Coast sweep is arm wrenching!

Good on ya Ratbag. I've lived close to both spots and both have their merits. More barrels on the Goldy, just as fun (but colder) down in Vicco - no sea lice or bluebottles either.
