The only thing that matters here is that a photographer took a great photo; and so, the photographer captured another great moment in time when people were having fun; after all, the person who has the most fun wins and fun is relative depending upon the person, from beginner to expert. Thanks for taking the time to share this photo with us. Cheers

Whatever, it's overhead, the size debate has been going for decades.

If your talking wave hight then thats about a 5-6ft wave. Face hight varies greatly depending on the bank or reef the wave hits and the period. Hence, when it works, the Cibber at Newquay can threw up a 30+face wilst the rest of the beach is lucky to reach 15-20ft for the same size wave.

If we are talking about hawaiian size here, this is at least 8ft. I mean, the face is like 16ft at least, and hawaiian size is supposed to be about half the face hight right? 6ft being double overhead, maybe a little more since you rarely stand up straight, but still, unless the guy on it is tiny grommet or something... That is more than triple overhead for crying out loud.

what else would we be talking other than wave height? that's not a 6-foot tall wave; from the level of the water not breaking, to the height of the water that is cresting, that's a good deal more than 6 feet...if at that particular beach you're talking about, you get some waves at 15, and some at 30, then that's two different wave heights...the swell may certainly be of the same size, but how it breaks is going to be different - the wave in this photo has a "breaking wave" size of probably 12 feet

damn, I guess I'll have to change all my "biggest wave ever" stories if that is what a six foot wave looks like. " dude it was epic, I paddled for an hour trying to get out past the break. When I finally got there this mountain of a wave rolled in around the point. Shit, it was huge, bigger than anything I've ridden before. It Must have been SIX FEET!!! All I could do was turn and paddle for it, close my eyes and pray. Next thing I knew I was flying down the line, it was HUGE. I must have had three or four inches of solid water overhead."

Looks awesome but seriously how are you measuring that wave....6 feet? The guy on the wave is either a midget or we are looking at a different picture. Not having a go, but its interesting how different people judge waves. My local surf spot according to the reports is 1ft at the moment (read ankle high)....
