british surf comes in all shapes and sizes. the truth is if you love to ride waves you need a bit of a quiver here. i don't know anyone worth their salt that doesn't have a longboard and a bunch of smaller quicker craft. but often a long board is just the best option and for a pros sake in england its a good training ground for logging. our pro longboarders are world contenders (prob due to the conditions)

i see a ton of longboarding photos come out of the uk, england specifically. Whats up with that, I knew Brits were awesome but is it just the waves there or is it the culture or what?

thats the beauty of it. we dont all surf for the same things. i certainly dont surf to relax.

but its the inherent idea of "gliding with power" that i dont find fun. I mean with the exception of hurricane swell. i surf to relax, sinking on my little board just doesnt seem to be relaxing compared to walking up and down my 10 ft. log.

look, i see the fun in it, but short board riding doesnt have to be slashing, you can also just glide, but with power. i have seen big blokes slashing with longboards, its too good. individual style, individual choice.

lets be honest, a shortboard gets you where you cannot go with a longboard, which makes the latter seem pretty boring. its also the kooks vehicle of choice.

i didnt wanna hate on shortboarding, theres definitely a time and a place for a thruster. I just see a log being 10 times the fun most of the time

i agree dr, shortboarding makes me clinch my teeth, with all that "slashing"," schmacking", and "killing it". Where as longboarding makes me smile, with its "sliding", "gliding",and "hanging ten."

I think there are definatly more short boarders where i surf, but personally I have more fun on a 3 ft day with LB and a few mates, just more fun and a laugh innit!
